I started in audiology because I could have an immediate and positive impact on a person’s life. Our profession has changed so much over the past 30 years that we find ourselves constantly learning new things and always taking classes to keep up with technology. The sound quality and noise control we now have is amazing compared to the old days, but in the end, it still comes down to patience, understanding, and taking our time to really listen and communicate clearly with our loved ones.
I love working with my patients and they become like family to me. We all work together in our office to treat each person as a sacred individual and help them each meet their personal needs for their own lifestyle. I know how hearing problems can poorly impact a relationship, and how hearing better just makes life easier, for everyone.

My career has taken me to some interesting places like Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Milwaukee Otolaryngology and the Fond du Lac Regional Clinic. At every place, I was able to learn, develop my skills, and create strong bonds with my patients. After working for 24 years, the last 12 at Ascension in Oshkosh, I am now excited to be working at Fox Valley Hearing Center to continue to care for my current patients and to meet new ones. I would love to focus on rehabilitation and improving hearing for all ages.

I have been working as an audiologist for over 21 years. I was born and raised in Little Chute, Wisconsin, and when I was in the eighth grade, my father fell from a scaffolding and was in the hospital for a few weeks with a head injury. During his stay, I was able to sit in on his visits from his speech therapist. I found those visits very intriguing. When I went off to college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I intended on becoming a speech therapist. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I had to decide where I would do my post-graduate work. I was not sure speech therapy was my path. I had graduated a semester early, and UW-Madison did not allow me to start its graduate program until the following December. I decided that since I had a semester to wait, I would apply to UW-Oshkosh and investigate its graduate program for audiology. After the first week, I was hooked and never looked back. I knew audiology was it for me.
Every visit has been outstanding! From the moment we walk in, the entire team—from the receptionist to Dr. Melissa, and today, Emily, the audiology assistant—has consistently impressed us with their professionalism and kindness. Emily provided exceptional assistance to my husband and me today, demonstrating incredible patience, friendliness, and expertise. Thank you, Emily! It's clear that Fox Valley Hearing Center is truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and compassionate staff.
